(SECTION 85 (1) OF THE WATER ACT 2016)
The Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) hereby informs the public that provision of water services without authority of a license issued by the board constitutes an offence under section 85(1) and (2) of the Water Act 2016.
Accordingly, in order to ensure that water service standards are adhered to in terms of quality, cost and customer service and to guarantee the health and safety of consumers, WASREB shall henceforth commence registration of all small-scale water service providers within Nairobi City County in accordance with the law and the Water Vending Guidelines issued by the board.
Registration requirement applies to the following category of operators:
- Water bowsers/tankers.
- Gated community water service providers/Housing Development Company water projects.
- Private Boreholes engaged in commercial water supply.
- Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) water projects.
How to register
The general public is hereby notified that WASREB has delegated the registration and monitoring authority in respect of Small-Scale Water Service Providers within Nairobi Metropolis to Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA).
All water service operators enumerated above are therefore required to access, complete and submit an online registration form from the Athi Water Works Development Agency website: www.athiwsboard.go.ke/registration. Click here: https://bit.ly/2YA4wey
