PRESS RELEASE:
WASREB LAUNCHES THE BUSINESS PLANNING GUIDELINE FOR WATER SERVICE PROVIDERS
New Guidelines mean more financing options for Kenya’s Water Sector
NAIROBI, Kenya, April 10, 2019 – The Water Services Regulatory Board and USAID co-created a standardized template to assist water companies in seeking funding. The document was launched at a colorful event at a Nairobi, hotel.
The goal is for water service companies to become more attractive to non-traditional funding sources. This new tool will enable water companies to provide more water by accessing much needed financing. The standardized template is user-friendly and flexible.
The Nakuru Rural Water and Sanitation Company and the Mavoko Water Sewerage Company will pilot the new tool.
A launch event celebrated this accomplishment. Notable guests included Joseph K. Keter (MWS), Eng. Robert Gakubia, CEO of WASREB, Dr. Barbara Kazimbaya-Senkwe of USAID WASH-FIN, and representatives from 12 counties and 14 water companies.
