Public Notice: Beware Of Fraud And Scams

Wasreb-Who we are

The Water Services Regulatory Board, WASREB, is concerned over the increased number of scam cases brought to its attention regarding floating of tenders and recruitment of staff.

The public and suppliers are being lured into believing that they have won tender awards or are successful in applications made to WASREB, through telephone calls.

Following visits to WASREB offices and calls from distressed suppliers, we have been reliably informed that one of the culprits behind this scam is allegedly calling himself Eng. Yegon working at WASREB and the mobile number he is using is No. 0723-499-606. He has been demanding bribes through M-PESA.

WASREB wishes to remind the Public again that the culprit, the alleged Eng. Yegon is not an employee and letters, emails or mobile phone messages, offering jobs and tender opportunities or requesting for monetary inducement, are nothing but SCAMS. WASREB is committed to undertaking its statutory mandate in line with its Core Values and tenets of governance as guided by Article 10 of the Constitution.

The Public is therefore advised to be alert and vigilant with these types of messages or proposals and report to WASREB through +254 (0)202733561. The perpetrators are cunning. They will go to any length to produce fake letterheads, invoices, cheques, personal letters or hack into email addresses to make their scams look convincing.

In this regard, WASREB reminds members of the public that all communication to and from the organization, is usually done through formal letters, mainstream media, its website www.wasreb.go.ke, social media pages; Facebook- Wasreb Kenya, Twitter- @wasreb or through email info@wasreb.go.ke.
