WASREB’s Director of Licensing, Standards, and Advocacy, Eng. James Kigutu participated in the 32nd IEK International Convention at PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa, Mombasa County.
During his presentation, Eng. Kigutu shed light on the ongoing global impacts of climate change and underscored Kenya’s bold efforts to secure a safe, reliable, and sustainable water future.
He emphasized that strengthening water infrastructure and regulatory frameworks is essential for building long-term climate resilience. With clear regulatory guidelines now in place, water sector institutions are better equipped to integrate climate adaptation into planning, investment, and service delivery—ensuring our systems remain robust in the face of a changing climate.
His call to action outlined urgent need for the sector to embrace high-quality designs, sustainable materials, and adaptive operations that respond effectively to evolving climate risks.
