MAJIDATA
Majidata (https://majidata.wasreb.go.ke/) is a national monitoring and georeferenced information system on water and sanitation services. The system has a user-friendly interface that is easy to access, use, maintain, and update. The system is optimized for various capabilities, including mobile access, ensuring a seamless user experience for all stakeholders.
Under Section 111 of the Water Act 2016, WASREB is mandated to establish a national monitoring and georeferenced information system on water and sanitation services in Kenya.
The Majidata Journey
- 2009: Majidata V1 was launched as a database for social-economic data on the urban poor focusing all urban Low-Income Areas (LIAs) in Kenya.
- 2015: Majidata V2 was upgraded to include WSPs licensed service areas, as well as the served areas, and within the respective counties. The system also included sanitation infrastructure as per the Water Sector Trust Fund funded projects.
- 2023: Majidata V3 was upgraded to include maps of the all the Small-Scale Service Providers (SSSPs) locations in the 47 counties. It also includes existing spatial data for utility distribution networks and sewer networks for the licensed Water Service Providers (WSPs ). In addition to this, there exists an admin portal with workflows to ensure constant update and approval of the spatial data.
